Maria Valeria D’Avino was born in Rome, and she studied Scandinavian Literature in Rome and Copenhagen. She worked about ten years at RAI and then dedicated her time to literary translation. She has translated Danish, Norwegian and Swedish fiction for publishers such as Iperborea, Marsilio, Feltrinelli, Sellerio, Rizzoli and Orecchio Acerbo. Among the recent Norwegian authors she has translated there are Knut Hamsun, Johan Harstad, Ingvild Rishøi and Kari Stai. She collaborates with Asinitas Association as a teacher of Italian L2 in courses for migrants and she holds meetings and seminars on translation and writing.
