Kristina Aamand

Kristina Aamand (1972) is a famous Danish author of Young Adult novels. She worked as a nurse and social worker, debuted as a writer in 2007, and has been writing full-time since 2014. She worked for several years at the Anti-Violence Center of Copenhagen’s largest hospital and ran her own online Q&A on virginity. Her mixed cultural background – with a Danish Catholic mother and a Palestinian father of Syrian roots – and her experiences of clashing cultures play an important role in her writing. With If Words Were My Weapon she was a finalist for the Deutscher Jugendliteraturpreis.
